Study on Reverse Engineering Analysis Techniques

In recent years, lots of organizations face the problem about the understanding and evolution of legacy system, it has become more and more important in software research field. Reverse engineering can aid systematic evolution by providing a better understanding of subject system's design and overall structure and it is one of the crucial techniques in the maintenance and evolution of legacy systems. This paper introduces the terminology of reverse engineering, gives the progresses of reverse engineering analysis techniques. A discussion of the drawbacks of reverse engineering analysis techniques, and a comment on the future of the techniques is presented.
