Universal Plug and Play technology is more than just a simple extension of the plug and play peripheral model. It is an architecture for peer-to-peer network connectivity of intelligent appliances, wireless devices, and PCs of all form factors. It is designed to support zero-configuration, automatic discovery, and exchange of descriptions device and service descriptions for a breadth of device categories. In this paper, the concept, architecture and security of UPnP are described. The interaction between UPnP devices is introduced. Finally, a simulation UPnP device is presented to make clear the step of the development of UPnP device.
