An image encryption method based on spatial chaotic system

Fuyan Sun · Journal of Guilin University of Electronic Technology · 2008

In order to overcome the drawbacks of small key space and weak security in the lower dimensional chaotic cryptosystems in traditional encryption methods,to achieve highly secure image encryption techniques, this paper employs spatial chaotic systems to encrypt and decrypt images and use spatial Cat map to shuffle the position of image pixels and use another spatial chaotic map to confuse the relationship between the cipher-image and the plain-image.Through experimental tests and comparison with encryption techniques using lower dimensional chaotic systems, the results demonstrate the high superiority using spatial chaotic maps for image-encryption.
