Handwritten Numeral Recognition Based on Space-distribution Characteristics

A new thinning method, which is based on the spatial distributed features of the handwritten numerals, is proposed in this paper. At the same time,a new definition of the numeral feature vector is given.Then the handwritten numerals are recognized by means of the least distance method . Experimental results show that the proposed method can recognize the numerals in a fast and correct way and is easier to realized because the stroke changeability doesn't have to be considered.
