Progress on pharmacogenomics of metformin

Metformin is the first-line oral anti-diabetes drugs(OADs) in treating T2DM to control hyperglycaemia.However,there exist considerable interindividual variability in pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics in the treatment with metformin.Pharmacogenomics clarifies this diversity from the genetic aspects,and simultaneously provides a theoretical basis for medical personalization,on improving the effectiveness,safety and tolerability of metformin.
