A Study on 3D Facial Measurement

Lan Yao · Microelectronics & Computer · 2007

The research on facial configuration is very important in the fields of orthodontics, orthoganthic surgery and corrective and esthetic surgery. Systematic, fast and accurate 3D facial measurement is fundamental to the objective analysis of facial deformity. The traditional methods mainly concentrate on manual measurement, which involve human participating and are with errors incontrollable. Based on line measurement, radian measurement, angle measurement and proportion measurement, a new method, which combines both Farkas and three-dimensional laser measurement, is presented for three-dimensional facial measurement. Experimental results show that this method is intelligent, general, systematic, faster and more efficient.
