The Study of a Compact Color Descriptor

The color feature is often used and the easiest computable feature among the technique of the image content-based retrieval.But we need a more compact descriptor that expresses the qualitative characteristics.So we present a compact color descriptor based on the color histogram.This descriptor is obtained by applying the Haar wavelet transformation to a color histogram and binary quantizing the resulting coefficients of the transform.The result show that the descriptor offers a superior performance when compared to other descriptors of comparable size.
