Method of Multilevel Vector Data Compression for WebGIS

The limit of Internet bandwidth is one reason for the inefficiency of WebGIS data transmission,so that vector data compression is important to improve the transmission performance of WebGIS.A multilevel vector data compression method was proposed which included lossy compression applying to WebGIS and lossless compression with encoding.After illustrating the details of the core procedure,a series simulation of web map service was designed to validate the resolution.The result shows the significant compression ratio(about 90%) which can reduce the client-side response time.
