Performance of the RAKE Receiver for WCDMA Downlink Physical Channel

Updated Wideband CDMA (WCDMA) systems empoly coherent detection either by the ever existing Common Pilot Channel (CPICH),or by periodically inserting pilot symbols in the data stream.A RAKE receiver for WCDMA downlink physical channel with the channel estmation by the CPICH is presented.Analytic and simulation results show that the RAKE receiver proposed here performs better in the fast fading channels and has considerably less computational complexity than the receiver with pilot symbol aided channel estimation,especially in the high speed mobile enviornment.
