Contrastive study of "X-self" in English and "ziji" in Chinese based on Optimality Theory

BothX-selfin English and ziji in Chinese can be used as an object in a sentence,however,their binding characters are different in many aspects.This paper mainly studies kinds of factors which influence their binding characters to formulate the binding degrees in the pattern of NP1+V1P1(PP1)+NP2+V2P2+Rbased on Optimality Theory.The results show that both similar and different principles are found in their binding degrees,which contributes to their different binding characters even in the sentences with the identical syntactic structure.
