POWRE FREQUENCY ARC TEST CONDITIONS OF POWER FREQUENCY ARC-PROTECTION HARDWARE AND CLAMPING POST COMPOSITE INSULATORS FOR 10kV OVERHEAD INSULATION-COVERED CONDUCTORS

Yin Bin · Power System Technology · 2005

On the basis of analysis and calculation of the distribution of short circuit current of 10kV overhead insulation-covered conductors along the line, the cut-off time of short circuit fault as well as the probability of lightning stroke, following power frequency arc test conditions of arc-protection hardware and clamping post composite insulators for 10kV overhead insulation-covered conductors are proposed, that is, (a) root-mean-square value of short-circuit current and duration time can be divided into two level for power-frequency arc test, i.e. root-mean-square value being 20kA and lasting for 0.1s and root-mean-square value being 10kA and lasting for 0.5s; (b) the short circuit number of five for power frequency arc test is appropriate; (c) insulated conductor and test insulator should be disposed as practical configuration, e.g. concrete tower should be high over 2.0m, etc.
