An Improved Marchal's Map Matching Algorithm

Currently most of the maps used in navigation system are vector maps whose application usually results in the error of map matching due to the long cycle of map update and the inability of newly constructed road to appear on the map.In this paper,we put forward an improved Marchal's algorithm which is used to feed back matching information with remote sensing images to solve this problem.The experiments show that this algorithm can correct most errors brought about by the incompleteness of the vector map,improve the precision of map matching,make up for the shortcomings of vector map and therefore support image navigation system.
