Drugs exert their therapeutic effect by binding and regulating particular protein or nucleic acid targets.A large number of targets have been explored for drug discovery.Research focus has been aimed at the search of new targets and further exploration of existing targets.Knowledge of the targets facilitates the understanding of molecular mechanisms of drugs and the regular patterns in new drug development.
