An Image Encryption Algorithm Based on Random Key and "Quasi-Standard Map

Chang Li · Chinese Journal of Computers · 2003

This paper presents a new image encryption/decryption algorithm employing discrete chaotic systems. The main properties of the algorithm are that the whole encryption systems, including the encryption/decryption algorithm and the secret keys utilized are all generated by different chaotic systems. Two main modules are included in the algorithm. One is to substitute the pixels utilizing nonlinear iterative transformation which is dependent on the random secret keys generated by a discrete chaotic system. The other is to permute the pixels employing quasi standard map, which is a strong coupled architecture. The permutation is also dependent on the secret keys generated by a different chaotic system. The substitution and the permutation formed the SP network architecture with desirable cryptographic property. The analysis and the simulation results implied that the algorithm is of favorable security and efficiency.
