Performance Analysis of AODV under attacks on routing information

AODV is an on-demand table driven routing protocol in mobile ad hoc networks. Each node in mobile ad hoc network can act as either a computer or a router, so it is very vulnerable to routing information attacks. However, security problem has not been deeply considered in the routing protocols until now. This paper analyzes the attacking methods to routing information in mobile ad hoc network, and proposes two attacking models that are active attacks and selfish attacks. Then AODV is extended through adding the two attacking methods. The paper discusses the performance of AODV protocol under attacks on routing information by analyzing and comparing the simulation results. Finally, the paper discussed the defense method against the attacks on routing information.
