Improved Medium Access Control Algorithm Based on Multi-PacketReception in Wireless Ad Hoc Networks

An improved medium access control algorithm was proposed in this paper. The algorithm classified the traffic flow according to the request of QoS, and with the capability of Multi-Packet Reception at the physical layer, the algorithm provided higher QoS to the traffic flow with higher level as well as the improvement of the throughput performance of the networks. Finally, the performance of the algorithm was tested with the network simulation tool, NS-2, and compared with that of the traditional medium access control protocols.
