A Reasoning Model for Towered Linear Arrayed Sonar's Port/Starboard Discrimination Based on the Range of Target's Bearing

Zhou Ming · Command Control & Simulation · 2013

Passive towered linear arrayed sonar exist a problem named port/starboard ambiguity, and current discrimination model may give a fault result. In order to handle that problem,a model is built to calculate target's bearing(θ1) range when mother ship's maneuvering completed,in which some important influence factors such as target's distance, initial target's bearing, mother ship's maneuver angle are synthetically taken into account. Then two range of target's bearing can be calculated named range One and range Two,which respective based on the assumption that target is in Port or Starboard.A new model is established for towered linear arrayed sonar's port/starboard discrimination, which based on the combination of range One and range Two,as well as the situation whether θ1 belongs to range One or range One.Finally, its validity and its applicability of the model is validated by an example.
