Study of Remote Reading System of Pointer Water-meter

The problems of present manual water measuring and automatic reading systems of water-meter are analyzed,then a kind of low cost remote reading system of pointer water-meter based on vision is put forward.Power is needed only in water measuring,which can save eletricity and has no accumulative errors;the users check easily because the readings of water-meter is stored in image.The image intercepting method is used to collect the useful image in this system,which can reduce the need of storage and process speed,so low cost processor can be used instead of high cost processor,this method makes the cost of the electro circuit practical.The arithmetic of recognizing the direction of pointers is designed based on the image′s characteristic and pointer water meters′ configuration characters,and recognisition arithmetic is embeded in hardware,so image recognition is completed in the hardware circuit.The experimental result shows that this device can be applied and has important significance on meter data transmission system.
