Water Mass Analysis of the Source Area of Kuroshio

Water mass analysis is a very important way to get the biological and chemical character of ocean. It plays an important role in the further study of ocean dynamics. Kuroshio is a strong western boundary current. And the source area of Kuroshio has always been a very hot topic for oceanographers. In this paper, the data are from the joint subtropical survey by China and Japan. The methods of fuzzy mathematics are used for water mass division. Five water masses are got, which are: surface water mass, subsurface water mass, sub-intermediate mixing water mass, intermediate water mass and deep water mass. And the characteristics of the water mass are also analyzed.
