A Novel Power Management Circuit for Semi-Passive Tag in 2.45 GHz RFID

Xiaoxia Wang · 2013

Factors affecting read/write distance and life time of semi-passive tags were analyzed, and a novel power management circuit with mode control function for semi-active 2.45GHz RFID tag was proposed. The tag could automatically switch between passive and active modes depending on its distance to the reader. When the RFpower generated was sufficient for operation, the tag worked in passive mode,in which high power devices were turned off to save power, otherwise,it operated in semi-active mode using battery power.Simulation results showed that a minimum input level of 275mV was required to generate 1.9V supply voltage for 60kΩ load.
