On Pragmatic Formation Cause of Elliptic Utterances and Perception

Elliptic utterance,as a widely used language phenomenon,has been studied for long time but the traditional study approaches are largely limited within grammar framework.By Zipf’s Principle of Least Effort and Linguistic Adaptation Theory,we ascertained and solved pragmatic formation cause of elliptic utterance,we also thought that Relevant Theory,cognitive context and stereotypical relation could conduce to understand elliptic utterance’s phenomenon by supplying adequate information for semantic ellipsis.
