Application of wavelet analytical method to civil engineering

The basic theory, classification and its application in civil engineering of the one-dimensional wavelet analysis are briefly introduced in this paper. The successful application of the wavelet analysis in structural damage detection is emphasized. The damage features of the time domain response signal are more obvious after being wavelet transformed. The wavelet-based approach or the wavelet neural network is a promising method in the structural damage identification.
