The contour extraction and condensation of RP based CT image

The extraction of bone's contours is the base for bone's 3D-reconstruction and rapid prototyping manufacturing. According to the features of bone's CT images and the slicing requirement during fabricating prototypes, the general method of digital image processing with the computer graphics is discussed in this paper. The method includes image pretreatment, filter processing, contour data extraction, and the optimization of the contour to remove the redundant data, then the 2D contour data for 3D-reconstruction is generated from the CT image. This method has been realized using Visual C++ 6.0 and succeed in the contour extraction and condensation of RP based CT images.
