Improving Innovation and Utilization of Local Maize Germplasm in Panxi Mountain Areas,Sichuan

The narrow genetic base of maize germplasm,poor available germplasm resources in China would lead to the genetic frangibility.Since the middle age of the 1980s,a few self-mating system and hybrid seeds had controlled the maize production in large area.Effectively protecting the genetic diversity of the local maize germplasm resources and promoting improvement and innovation were the emphases of current breeding.In this article,the general situation,improvement and innovation and utilization of the local maize germplasm resources in Panxi mountain areas were analyzed.
