Study on the Effects of Extract from Leaves of Jatropha curcas L. on the Proliferation Inhibition and Apoptosis Induction in Human Melanoma Cell Line A375

Objective To investigate the anticancer effects of extract from leaves of Jatropha curcas L.on the inhibition of cell proliferation and apoptosis induction in human melanoma cell line A375 in vitro.MethodsThe A375 cells was cultured with different concentration of extract from leaves of Jatropha curcas L.The cell proliferation inhibition of A375 cells were measured by methyl thiazolyl tetrazolium(MTT)colorimetric assay.The morphological changes of A375 cells were observed by the light microscope.The cell apoptosis ratio was assessed by Flow Cytometry with the Annexin-V-FIFT/PI affinity assay.ResultsExtract from Leaves of Jatropha curcas L.significantly inhibited the proliferation of A375 cells and it induced cell apoptosis and morphological changes in dose-and time-dependent manners.ConclusionExtract from leaves of Jatropha curcas L.can inhibit the cell proliferation and induce cell apoptosis of malignant melanoma cells.
