Simulation Toolkits of Grid: State of the Art and the Thinkings

This paper shows the necessity and the importance of simulation/emulation in researching and developing Grid. The functions, thinkings, program languages, installation requirements, simulation/emulation examples and download URLs of simulation/emulation toolkits Bricks, ChicSim, EDGSim, CridSim, MicroGrid, OptorSim, SimGrid are introduced. Then a comparison of these toolkits from several aspects, such as function, installation requirement, deployment method, is made. In the end, the functions of these toolkits are summarized and some advices for developing Grid simulation toolkits are given.
