The Speckle Reduction of SAR Based on Wavelet Transform and Median Filter

Speckle degrades the quality of Synthetic Aperture Radar(SAR) images and has an effect on interpretation of future analysis and processing for SAR images.Firstly speckle generative mechanism was analyzed and the the present method based on the spatial domain and frequency domain were introduced.Then for speckle reduction in wavelet domain median filter was selected in high frequency coefficients region windows,and the new method to correlate the median filter and wavelet transform was put forward.The experimental result has shown that the algorithm is valid to reduce SAR images speckle noise.
