The Implementation Scheme of Smart Antenna in CDMA2000 1x EV-DO

In this paper,the application of Smart Antenna(SA) in CDMA2000 1x EV-DO is discussed,which gives a denial to the traditional viewpoint that SA is more suitably applied in TDD system holding the same up/downlink carrier frequency.For the implementation of SA in CDMA2000 1x EV-DO,we present two feasible application schemes based on directional transmitting and receiving principle of SA.In the two schemes,when DOA is obtained through uplink,multiple CDMA user can be received directionally on a single carrier simultaneously,and then downlink directional transmission can be realized immediately based on the obtained DOA at the same frequency and time.The two schemes can significantly increase the system up/downlink capacities and enhance power efficiency.
