Causes and Preventive Measures of Very Fast Transient Overvoltage During Operation of 220 kV GIS Disconnecting Switch

During operation of 220 kV GIS disconnecting switch of a substation,the arc discharge phenomenon frequently occurs between the insulating flange of GIS metal casing and the ground wire.This phenomenon is caused by VFTO during operation of the disconnecting switch.The corresponding protective measures and suggestions are offered to ensure safety and reliability of the power system.
