Study on TCP Option Optimization Based on Long Fat Network

Zhang Jian-dong · Information Security and Communications Privacy · 2010

The bandwidth could not be efficiently utilized in the Long Fat Network(LFN),and this problem is probably solved by using the Window-scale option and the timestamp option. This paper, based on Window-scale and timestamp options in TCP protocol, discusses the optimization of server configurations. With the test method of project server, the close and open of these two options is tested. The results show that the Window-scale option has a significant influence on the transmission performance, and the impact of timestamp option on the Unix is greater than on Linux. And the processing Window-scale option of Linux system is fairly superior to FreeBSD.
