Rate Distortion Optimized Strategy of H.264/AVC

Rate distortion optimized strategy used in H.264/AVC was studied.Rate distortion theory and Rate distortion optimized model were introduced firstly.Then cost functions in different parts of H.264/AVC were analyzed according to JM8.4 code,and the handle strategy of rate distortion cost function in its encoding process was studied deeply.Finally,the performance of rate distortion was acquired through the test of JM8.4 code.By the analyses of its advantages and disadvantages,improved directions were proposed.
