Speckle Filtering of SAR Images with Keeping Edge Information
Shi Xue-jin · Remote Sensing Information · 2014
An improved method of speckle filtering is presented for the problem that the traditional methods can cause the loss of edge information.Firstly,an image is divided into edge detail areas, flat areas, and noise points by determining the parameters. Then the three different regions are processed in differences. Finally, the improved method is compared with existing methods using Radarsat-2 image, and the different filtering methods are evaluated in quantitative analysis by using the indices that evaluate image quality such as mean, standard deviation, equivalent number, edge retention of the image, etc. The experimental results show that the improved filtering method for SAR image is better than others, and can preserve edge information more effectively.
