The design and implementation of SNMP-based network management agent in virtual private networks

This paper first introduces the concept and basic principle of IPsec-based VPN.Then it implements IPsec protocol in Linux operation system using FreeS/WAN and establishes an experimental VPN.An appropriate MIB is defined after researching some related IETF drafts,then a SNMP agent is built in the VPN gateway using Java.Finally,the basic functions of the SNMP agent are tested.
