A Sound and Sense Analysis of "The Bells"

The Bells is an irregular ode compromised of four numbered stanzas.Each dedicates to a successive stage in the human life span-youth,wedding,agedness,and funeral.At the same time,each has its own type of metal bells-silver sleigh bells,golden wedding bells,brazen alarm bells and iron funeral bells.The four kinds of bells symbol the Poet's four different emotions towards every stage of life.The sound must seem an echo to the sense.With the successful use of sound,the author expresses his intended feelings.
