Lifting Scheme and JPEG2000

The D9/7 biorthogonal wavelet transform is used to deduce lifting scheme from Mallat algorithm. Comparing with the deduction of Daubechies, our deduction decomposes both high-pass filters and low-pass filters and makes every step be realized with FIR filters. In addition, it is found that the scalar (ρ=1.230) recommended by JPEG2000 is different from the deduced result (ρ=1.149 6). This shows that the wavelet transform realized by JPEG2000 is a little different from D9/7 biorthogonal wavelet transform. However, the experimental results presented in this paper show that the difference in scalar does not incur severe influence on image coding.
