A Case Study on Distance - Iconic Motivation

Distance - iconic motivation can be used to explain the isomorphism relation between the linguistic structure and the conceptual structure of the prototype construction. How to identify the relevant constituents is a big problem in calculating the linguistic distance. This paper selects causative constructions as an example and uses transformational method to prove that the theme' s complete affectedness results form the causative verb but not matrix verb.
