Research on Bi-directional Intra Prediction of H.264

In order to increase the intra coding efficiency,two schemes are proposed in bi-directional intra prediction(BIP).One is to exchange the coding orders,while the other is to merge the two predictive modes to a new predictive mode.The performance is evaluated with three typical video sequences.The simulation result shows that the bi-directional Intra Prediction is able to reduce 2.96% coding rate,while increasing the coding time by 222% and the PSNR by 0.25.
