A rough localization method for container code characters

A rough localization method for container code characters is proposed.The method uses the inherent characteris-tics of characters and their arrangement.First the image edges are extracted and the non-characteristic edges are filtered out.Then the connected region is obtained using mathematical morphologic attribute opening algorithm and closing algorithm.Fi-nally the region being not character area is removed and the potential positions are obtained.[
