Objective To observe the leverage of different storage conditions on C-reactive protein determination. Methods The serum of 29 patients suffering infectious disease were obtained and storedatroom temperature,4 ℃ for 1 to 4 weeks, and -20 ℃ for 4 weeks.CRP is determined with solid phase sandwich colloidal gold method.Room and 4 ℃ samples were measured after 1 week,2 weeks,3 weeks and 4 weeks,-20 ℃ samples after 4 weeks. And those CRP values were compared with that of instant-determined samples. Results The patients had relatively medium to high CRP values of (54.7±53.1)mg/L.CRP could remain stable under -20℃ storage for 4 weeks.Samples of medium CRP value(50 mg/L)could retain relatively stable. While samples with higher CRP(≥50 mg/L)concentration heightened, but the changes were not very large(median CRP increased by 13.3~22.6% of original value). Conclusion CRP is a kind of protein molecule of pretty stable. The CRP determination is still valuable even if sample was stored at room temperature or 4 ℃ for 1 to 4 weeks. But to maintain absolute stable, serum samples have to be kept under -20 ℃ condition.
