Reliability Calculation of Non-identical Redundant Components and Multiple Voting Configurations
Hu Bin · Automation and Instrumentation · 2010
The transmitter, logic controllers and final executor of the safety instrumented system are always composed of non-identical redundant components or multiple voting configurations. The common causes become reduced because of the diversity of the non-identical redundant components. The qualitative methods on determining the diversity correction factor k was put forward. The PFD model of non-identical redundant components was set up.For the multiple voting configurations, the output of the inner voting was the input of the outer voting. The average of the inner and outer common causes was introduced. The PFD models of general multiple voting configurations were set up.The model accounted for reliability of the applied safety instrumented system. How to accurately determine k value needs to be farther studied.
