Development and application of asset management information system

Wang Ying-xue · 2000

Management information systems (MIS) are normally installed on networks rather than on single machines, because of the advantages of data management and information sharing. An asset management information system was developed and put into practice at Tsinghua University to meet the rapidly increasing needs of the university requirements. Both Client/Server and Browser/Server techniques were used in the system; therefore, convenient tools were provided to treat data and to query information. Basic data security was guaranteed by using up a data examination principle. Working procedures were reduced by the system so that working efficiency was increased and the amount of routine work was reduced by at least 50%. Equipment information is provided to internet visitors under the control of the data administrator.
