Testing Web Services:A Review

Service-oriented Architecture (SOA) has recently emerged as a new promising paradigm for supporting distributed computing.Web services are special substitutes for this kind of architecture.Then as we all know,it is crucial to test Web services entirely and thoroughly to ensure trustworthiness and reliability.So we make a survey of some methods and technologies for testing Web services.This paper talks about the characteristics of Web services based on SOA and new challenges posed for testing firstly,then it compares Web services testing to traditional software testing.It also discusses the main problems of testing Web services from different views (testing perspectives and testing strategies), next introduces a model for organizing and managing Web services testing process.Also the related research on testing Web services and some representative testing technologies are pointed.At last,it gives conclution and discusses future research and practice on testing Web services.
