Corpus Data-based Study of Semantic Prosody of Synonyms

Using a data-based method,a case study of a pair of synonyms,rather and fairly,is presented through searching a native corpus LOB,which reveal their different semantic prosody and witnesses the powerful vitality of corpus as a language research tool as well.Language learners and teacher are suggested to use corpus widely in learning and teaching to enhance the learners' perception of semantic prosody so as to promote their language learning and perfect their communication.
