Application of Artificial Neural Networks to Distance Protection of Transmission Lines
Zheng Jia · 2002
Classical distance protection of transmission lines(DPTL)can be affected by various conditions which cause faults, sometimes leading to wrong reaction of relays. A new DPTL system, where artificial neural networks are used as a pattern classifier, is presented in this paper. Simulation of a simple three phase power system by means of the software of EMTP and MATLAB have heen performed and the results show that ANN (BP) can accurately locate the fault as caused by grounding of a single phase in three phase transmission lines.
