Architecture and System Integration Framework of Total Ship Computing Environment

Xiaomin Dong · Chinese Journal of Ship Research · 2014

The Total Ship Computing Environment(TSCE)is a representation of the advanced technology for ship information system integration. It brings great changes to the design and integration of ship systems. In this paper, the related works, architecture and system integration framework of TSCE are introduced, and three levels of the TSCE architecture, including the structure of functional integration, the buses of data integration, and the infrastructure of physical integration. Specifically, three sub-levels can be characterized for the functional integration:components, services and missions;the data integration relies on two data buses:Data Distribution Service(DDS)and Enterprise Services Bus(ESB),which are utilized for real-time and non real-time applications, respectively;the physical integration, apart from the network infrastructure, includes presentation, core processing, and adaptation. Finally, the resource management plays a key role in the TSCE infrastructure. In brief, the application of TSCE would lead to changes on both engineering management and system development.
