Using EMTP to Calculate Transient Current Distributionin Metal Frame

A method of calculating the lightning current distribution on the metal frame of building by using electromagnetic transient program(EMTP) was presented.The effect of this method was proved by a laboratory experiment.The lightning-induced magnetic field evaluations for 10 m×10 m×10 m metal frame was calculated.The results showed that this method could be used to optimize the location of sensitive electronic equipment inside the building,it could reduce the harm of lightning electromagnetic pulse.
