Investigation on risk factors of multi-falls in elderly people

Objective To investigate the falls in elderly people and explore risk factors of multi-falls in older adults. Methods An investigation was carried out among retired teachers by random sampling. Results The risk factors for multi-falls and non-multifalls is the falling histories during the past one year and abnormalities in dynamic balance ability; the risk factors for multi-falls and single fall is abnormalities in dynamic balance ability. Conclusions Intervention and prevention should preferably be focused on elderly people at high risk for falls. Falling histories in previous years and abnormalities in dynamic balance ability are important in identifying high risk subgroups.
