MULTI-AGENT INTERACTION BASED ON BDI

Kang Xiao · Chinese Journal of Computers · 1999

In this paper, a BDI language for multi agent interaction, called MAL, is presented. Based on MAL, the concepts of belief, desire and intention, and the relations between belief, desire and intention are analyzed, then the concepts of social commitment and joint intention are formally defined. Finally, an example of Contract Net is given, which shows the process of multi agent interaction based on BDI. Comparing with the BDI models and languages of Cohen Levesque, Rao Georgeff, and Haddadi, MAL can describe the beliefs, desires and intentions of single agent and multi agent, overcomes the misunderstanding of the concepts of belief, desire and intention, and supports multi agent interaction more effectively.
