Thinking About Research Status & Development of Dam Foundation Rock for Hydropower Projects

Some key domestic hydropower projects as examples,the article summarized and analyzed the dam bedrock quality classification in hydropower projects of China,selection of the main parameters of rock mechanics,determination of the base surface of dam,as well as the situation taking advantage of weekly weathered rock. The article maintained that a new approach should be the trend of research and development of the dam foundation rock in hydropower projects.This method is to simplify multi-factor classification of dam base rock,make the extraction of rock mechanics parameters and rock quality classification to form a complete set, extract physical and mechanical parameters by contour as well as dynamically determine the surface of dam bedrock.
