Research and Implementation for SNMP-based Host Locating in LAN
Mao Qi-ming · Journal of Shihezi University · 2008
In LAN management, network administrators often need to find the network device and interface which an online host is connected by its IP address, which enable administrators to trace the host and tack action against it.But in large-scale LAN,it is difficult to rapidly and exactly locate a host.By analyzing the MIB information of network device, the paper puts forward the SNMP-based method for real-time host locating in LAN,and implements it with Java language. The method is applied to the management of our campus network. It is proved to work well in practice, and greatly improves network management efficiency.
